Ground Control Techniques

This law enforcement-based Ground Control course focuses on grappling holds and techniques that work for police and security in the field. You cannot work in this industry during our current climate and not have skills for the ground encounter. We guarantee that you will be on the ground at some point in your career, and you need to have a blueprint to control the suspect when the fight goes into that realm. This course focuses on ground control techniques that will allow officers to control a suspect until backup arrives, which includes control techniques that allow the officers to exhaust the suspect for easier handcuffing. The skills learned in this course will utilize body weight and compression learned through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu but focuses on what we deal with on the job. This course is not taught by a civilian trainer that has never put on a uniform but is rather taught by veteran officers that understand policy and what you deal with in the field. You don’t need to be a trained martial artist to attend this class, because we’re going to teach you simple yet effective solutions. You’ll leave this course with a newfound skill for controlling individuals on the ground as well as a better understanding of defensive tactics. This course will have limited space due to mat space and demand for the training.

NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting

Short Description: The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation and is available for delivery in two ways. One option is the traditional, instructor-led course where you will receive direct instruction from an NRA-certified instructor from beginning to end. The other option has two components: a self-study or “eLearning module” which is completed online in your own timeframe and a hands-on practical portion conducted in a classroom and shooting range with an instructor.

Instructor Led Only Training: The Instructor Led Only takes place in a traditional classroom and range environment. This course may be completed in a single day format or over several days with smaller blocks of instruction.

Blended Training: The Blended training format provides students the flexibility to complete a significant portion of the course in an e-Learning environment, prior to arriving for the classroom and range session with an NRA Certified Instructor. When you register for the blended course, you’ll create a unique username and password. The instructor will provide you with a Course Control Code and directions to complete the self-study portion of the course prior to class date.

Course topics include gun safety rules, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, pistol selection and storage, shooting fundamentals, pistol inspection and maintenance, marksmanship, and shooting range safety. Range Safety Officer

The NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO) program was developed in response to the demand for a nationally recognized range safety officer certification. To become a NRA Range Safety Officer, you must pass the RSO course and demonstrate that you possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.

NOTE: This course does not encompass the functions and responsibilities of a Range Officer, who conducts NRA competitive shooting events as defined by Rule 11.5 of the NRA Rule Books.

There are two ways to become a RSO. You can take an Online Course from the NRA if you are currently an NRA Certified Firearm Instructor or you can take a course conducted by a Chief RSO, an individual certified to train NRA Range Safety Officers. The RSO course content consists of RSO's roles and responsibilities, range standard operating procedures, range inspection and range rules, firearm stoppages and malfunctions, and Range Safety Briefings which include procedures to follow in the case of an emergency. RSO's who have successfully completed the course then have the ability to become a Chief Range Safety Officer, someone essential to training and supervising NRA Range Safety Officers and developing range standard operating procedures.
